Next Apple TV reported to run iOS 9, feature full iOS core
The latest and perhaps the most interesting one to join the list, is that of Apple TV set top box update which will be using iOS 9 especially optimized for TV. All makes sense, and if Apple can make iOS 9 run on a 2011 vintage iPhone, the hardware requirements for a cut-down version on a new Apple TV aren’t going to break the bank.
Apple Inc. will be officially releasing the new iOS 9 to the public next month and is rolling out new features that aim to create a better user experience for its customers. 9to5Mac speculates, based on information from its sources, that the remote will include a microphone to allow Apple TV users to use Siri to operate the device.
According to the report there will be a dedicated SDK that enables developers to cater to the Apple TV, similar to developing apps for the iPhone and iPad. Apple is also expected to release a new app store which will allow you to download apps and games directly onto the new Apple TV. Photos of the new Apple TV are yet to leak, but here we have included 3D renders of what it might look like, alongside the rumoured new remote. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will launch the rumored internet TV this year as talks with TV networks continue to stall over pricing. It will also have a larger remote control with tactile keys in addition to touch- and gesture-based inputs.
One thing that won’t be coming if the new Apple TV is released in September is Apple’s long-awaited live TV streaming service.
As with Slide Over and Split View, third-party apps are likely to add support for Picture in Picture. Even if you’re not a student, Brainscape can be a smart way to continue your education while on a commute or during boring moments of the day. But some users are now reporting that they are unable to pair their iTunes library via Bluetooth, and have lost some of their playlists.
The new app gives users greater control over the news by allowing them to favorite certain sections, which means the news from those sections will show up on the home screen each time a user opens the app. Apple’s grand plan of offering a TV subscription service to replace cable and satellite is still some way off for now, with 9to5Mac doubting we’ll see anything like this until “at least” 2016.
