Arsenal transfer news: Wellington Silva confirms Bolton Wanderers loan deal on
Wellington has spent the last five seasons on loan in Spain – at Levante, Alcoyano, Ponferradina, Murcia and Almeria – after not being not granted a work permit following his arrival at the club from Fluminese in 2011.
The Arsenal striker has penned a season-long loan deal and should make his debut against Nottingham Forest this weekend.
Indeed, Arsenal have indicated they would rather loan Silva out in the English Championship, where he has interest from Bolton Wanderers, than in the Bundesliga, something which has surprised Hertha Berlin. In the 2014-15 season, he put up an impressive performance for Almeria, where he managed six assists to his name in 31 league appearances.
A number of clubs, including La Liga side Real Betis, are rumoured to have been interested in Silva, whose Emirates contract was due to expire in 2016.
Arsene Wenger can not guarantee him regular football at the moment, with Arsenal boasting an avalanche of attacking forwards in their ranks, as a result another loan move was sought the best possible scenario for the Brazilian forward.
Bolton boss Neil Lennon confirmed the signing after their 1-0 defeat to MK Dons. Because of that he sort of feels like a player whose time has come and gone, but in reality there’s still plenty of time for Wellington to come good.
