Video shows Ferguson suspect with gun
The state of emergency will continue for at least one more night, despite a state of relative calm on the streets of Ferguson.
St. Louis County Police say no arrests were made after a group of protesters returned to West Florissant Avenue in Ferguson. Stenger issued the state of emergency for the county on Monday following violent protests on Sunday night.
At least two people were arrested after demonstrators took to the streets of Chicago Tuesday night to show solidarity with Ferguson, Missouri.
The protests were conducted to mark the police shooting of an unarmed black man one year ago that ignited a national firestorm on race relations.
Mr Brown, 18, was fatally shot by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson.
Harris, who was shot multiple times and critically wounded by police, has been charged with 10 total counts related to the shooting, including assaulting law enforcement. USA Today noted that Infowars has denied hiring Oath Keepers as private security for their reporters, but added “we respect them for encouraging active military and retired veterans to study the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights”. His family told the Post-Dispatch Monday they don’t believe Harris would shoot at police officers. “It was a result, authorities said, “of the criminal unrest” in and around Ferguson”, following the shooting of another young black man who police said drew a gun on the fringes of a Sunday night protest remembering Michael Brown, the teenager killed last August.
“If this is the worst that’s going to happen, then we’ll survive”, he said, standing in the I Love Ferguson store he opened in October to raise money for city businesses and institutions damaged in last year’s riots. It was a far cry from the violence and tension that marred the previous two nights.
“From what I heard, he was there with some friends and they had a confrontation”, Harris’ father, Tyrone Harris Sr., said to local media.
St. Louis County Police released a video on Tuesday that they said shows a suspect, who has been accused of firing on police, drawing a pistol from his trousers during protests in strife-torn Ferguson, Missouri. By midnight, much of the crowd had dispersed. Detectives from the Crimes Against Persons Unit have identified the person in the video as Tyrone Harris.
The events had largely been peaceful until Sunday night, when gunfire erupted and 18-year-old Tyrone Harris Jr was shot by officers after they say he fired at an unmarked police van. About 150 people were arrested during demonstrations Monday and early Tuesday morning.
Later during afternoon rush hour, more than 60 others were arrested for blocking lanes of Interstate 70 in St. Louis County, a few miles west of Ferguson.
