Shark tips over kayak in Florida
Capt. Ben Chancey of Chew on This Fishing Charters was out in the waters off Stuart when the close encounter occurred. The company operates out of Stuart and offers excursions for tarpon, goliath grouper, “monster sharks” and more.
The moment an aggressive bull shark capsized a man’s kayak in Florida was caught on video. He added that it spat the bait out and a bull shark ate it. “I couldn’t let him win that easy”, he told ABC News.
Not all incidents with sharks are unprovoked.
“My feet were dangling on the side”. Chancey quickly swims to a nearby boat. And after hearing about all the shark attacks…
Speaking to NBC-2, raging residents blamed fishermen for throwing bait into the water, causing the sharks to return. “I figured I had a better chance of swimming to [a support boat] … than sitting there with my feet dangling over the side”, Chancey said.
Then the shark pulled so hard on the line that Chancey was knocked off balance – and out of the kayak.
The fisherman and members of his show at Chewonthis.tv captured it all on video, before the beast reared upwards and whacked Chancey’s kayak with its tail.
Leaving his flip-flops to float by themselves, Chancey swam for his life to the nearest boat, sounding as though he was simultaneously laughing and hyperventilating as he was helped aboard.
