3 killed, 27 wounded as suicide attack rocks capital Kabul
At least one woman and two children were among those killed in the attack, said Najib Danish of the interior ministry. Scores of others were wounded.
At least 12 people were killed and 66 others wounded in an explosion in Afghanistan’s capital Saturday, an Afghan Ministry of Public Health official said.
The Taliban quickly denied it was behind in the attack in Kabul’s Macrorayan neighbourhood, though the militants increasingly have been targeting Kabul in recent weeks and often don’t claim attacks that maim large numbers of civilians.
DynCorp global did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Some analysts say the insurgents are trying to show they remain potent.
During rush hour, a suicide auto bomb explosion in the Macroyan residential area of Kabul came relatively close to the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan’s capital.
US-led North Atlantic Treaty Organisation forces ended their combat mission in Afghanistan in December past year, although a 13,000-strong residual force remains for training and counter-terrorism operations. It has also advanced in districts in the north but has struggled to hold ground.
Saturday’s bomb was placed in a Toyota sedan, a security official at the scene said.
The blast took place next to a private hospital, the Shinozada clinic, and windows of nearby houses and apartments were shattered.
