Former Hampshire policeman believed to be among Shoreham Airshow victims

A statement released by the Civil Aviation Authority on Monday said it had ordered that flying displays by vintage aircraft “will be significantly restricted until further notice”.

The jet’s pilot, Andrew Hill, was left fighting for his life after the crash, and has now been moved to a specialist hospital for treatment.

The investigation into what caused the plane crash at the Shoreham Airshow “will probably take a couple of years at least”, an aviation expert has said.

Police had previously confirmed in that seven people had died, yet noted in that they were still receiving calls from relatives who had not heard from their loved ones.

The vintage Hawker Hunter single-seat fighter jet was attempting a loop manoeuvre, but the plane reportedly failed to pull out.

Police investigating the Shoreham crash yesterday warned the death toll from the crash could rise to 20 once all the wreckage has been cleared.

The RAA added: “The air show itself has to meet rigorous safety standards that are laid down by the CAA, who review these on an ongoing basis”.
