Skype 6 for iPhone and iPad brings simpler navigation in latest redesign

The announcement means that the latest versions of Skype apps are Skype 6.0 for Android; and Skype 6.0 for iPhone and iPad.

Microsoft is getting serious about messaging & that is pretty evident from the new Skype which has been released for iOS and Android. In short, it lets you start a new conversation (video call, audio call, chat, or video message) from anywhere in the app. Messaging has also been improved to better show you how many unread messages you have. Swiping on your screen can help you make a call or manage your messages. Skype 6.0 is rolling out now to mobile devices around the globe. If you run an update of your app, you will see some cool new features. The company notes that now users will be able find contacts and conversations much faster. There’s enhanced search with a new recents tab, and a bunch of features from the iPhone have been made available on the iPad.

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) bagged four of the top ten spots in App Annie’s list of top ten most downloaded iOS apps of all time, published on Wednesday. But the app updates don’t mention the new logo, but it does seem a very odd coincidence that all these apps would be updated just now.

On Android, Skype 6.0 adds a material design update to bring it in line with Android’s overall look.

Meanwhile, the iOS release is fairly extensive, too.

iPad improvements. Skype for iPad has improved dramatically and picks up a number of features that were previously only available on iPhone. Thankfully, Microsoft is working on a new Skype app for Windows 10 Mobile, and the company says it will have more to share on that particular app soon.

That is about to change with the recent launch of the Android Wear app for the iOS. You can also start a group chat or a group voice call right on the iPad. These include the ability to share things such as photos, links, emoticons and users’ location while on a voice or video call.
