Adobe warning after software firm hacked
Adobe has acknowledged that the flaw exists, marking it as a “critical” vulnerability.
Reports say security firm flash-zero-day-likely-be-exploited-attackers”>Symantec has issued a warning to PC users to disable Adobe Flash, following the discovery of a severe vulnerability in the popular browser plugin to which there is no fix yet.
No active exploits of the susceptibility have been noticed by the researchers as of yet. Because of that, everyone should install the new Flash Player updates as soon as possible.
How does a user know if the system is already affected by the exploit? Nearly humorously, it also relates to Adobe: it has to do with atmdf.dll, an Adobe font driver which has shipped with all versions of Windows dating back to Windows XP. It would have to be used in conjunction with another vulnerability to be effective, however.
It is just an iceberg of the tricks and tools used by the Hacking Team.
Team Hacking thinks groups like ISIS will begin using its surveillance software.
The company has a history of supplying surveillance software to oppressive governments across the globe. The tweets deleted after to avoid further leakage of the stolen data.
“We believe this is an extremely unsafe situation”, the company said. The company listed Lebanon, Egypt, Russian Federation and Sudan as part of its clientele.
The weekend breach of Hacking Team left Adobe Flash vulnerable to attack. According to the leaked documents, Ethiopia signed on in 2012.
As if it was not embarrassing enough for Hacking Team to fall victim to a cyber attack, it appears that the company was withholding important security information.
How does the leak affect the Hacking Team’s business?
“GitHub had temporarily suspended my account with this notice: ‘One of our mostly harmless robots seems to think you are not a human, ‘” the anonymous poster wrote, adding the page was put back up after he contacted support.
About their Galileo Remote Control System they say: “RCS is a solution created to evade encryption by means of an agent directly installed on the monitored device”. One recent discovery flash-0day-into-the-wild/”>yesterday was that Hacking Team was hacking jailbroken Apple Inc. Clients may lose faith or trust in them. Subsequently, Pozzi’s Twitter was also hacked and then turned off. The hacker behind the breach is still yet to be discovered. The firm has a questionable reputation, as it provides governments around the world with software that allows them to spy on citizens.
