American Idol’s Constantine Maroulis Arrested for Domestic Violence
Maroulis finished in sixth place on American Idol in 2005.
The former American Idol favorite was taken into custody on Wednesday after allegedly kicking Angel Reed, his girlfriend and mother of their four-year-old daughter, in the crotch, reportsTMZ.
Authorities tell TMZ Angel called 911 from their New Jersey home, claiming the 39-year-old singer threw her to the ground and kicked her in the groin, at which point law enforcement responded and arrested him.
She accused the singer of kicking her in the groin, but he has retorted that it was an action of self defense. While he was arrested and booked, Maroulis maintained his innocence.
Maroulis’ representative told the website that there is evidence Maroulis acted in self-defense. “Sometime later the local police came and arrested him for domestic abuse”, the rep said.
Constantine Maroulis appeared on season 4 of “American Idol” in 2005 with contestants like Bo Bice, Carrie Underwood, Jessica Sierra and Mario Vazquez.
He also appeared on “The Bold and the Beautiful” and in several Broadway productions, including “Jesus Christ Superstar” and a Tony-nominated performance as Drew in “Rock of Ages“. Maroulis and Reed began dating in 2009, a year after both started working on the classic rock Broadway musical.
