Apple Inc. Devotes $700000 A Year For Tim Cook’s Security
As he head of the most profitable company in the world, Tim Cook certainly needs protection.
The staggering figure, which translates to almost £450,000, was spotted in Apple’s Schedule 14A report with the US Securities and Exchange Commission by Patently Apple. Details were filed back in March but just now came to light. Under the heading “all other compensation”, the filing breaks down the figure of $774,176 for 2014. At that price, Apple’s shelling out enough cash to keep at least five personal security professionals by Cook’s side. The life term premium is a whopping $2,520.
Still, Cook’s security expenses pale in comparison to others in the tech industry.
Apple said that they consider these expenses to be necessary and in complete benefit of the company.
The Company generally does not provide perquisites to its officers that are not available to employees generally. Earlier in the year, the company also entered the wearable space with the Apple Watch, which according Apple is already a billion dollar business. The documents further reveal the safety and security of Tim Cook is of the utmost importance to Apple and the shareholders.
While the amount may boggle the mind, this is actually not the highest a company has spent on the security of its CEO. During the same period, when Larry Ellison was still CEO of Oracle, $1.5 million was spent on security for him.
