Apple Music has 11m trial users five weeks after launch
Of those 11 million, about 2 million have taken the $15-per-month “family plan”, which allows access to up to six users, Apple SVP Internet software and services Eddie Cue said in an interview with USA Today.
Apple Music has been launched in several countries including USA. “With particular momentum in China”, says Eddy Cue. Meanwhile, Apple is rumored to be seeking 100 million subscribers, which would be over twice the number of users that have paid subscriptions with all the other streaming services put together. Jimmy Iovine, another Apple employee who joined the company along with rapper and record producer Dr Dre, said he was “pleasantly shocked” by how well the service has done.
By comparison, Spotify has a little over 20 million pay subscribers, although it’s been around since 2006.
Apple is already seeing success with its streaming music platform, just one month after its launch. The officially announced milestone of 11 million users is roughly in line with the rumored ten million users shared by HITS Daily Double last week. “And finally, there are people out there who i think understand its value, but we still have to go out and get them”.
As for the criticisms Apple Music has received, Cue says that, “We’re aware that some users have experienced some issues, and we hate letting them down, but we’re releasing updates as fast as we can to address those issues”. That brings the total amount paid to app developers to Dollars 33 billion, up from USD 25 billion at the end of 2014.
