Apple’s updates iPod Touch amid declining sales
By using the 64-bit processor, the iPod Touch will be able to support Apple’s advanced gaming technology called Metal.
Today’s iPod line refresh came as an odd surprise to some and maybe even a long-awaited update to others. Regardless of how you feel, do yourself a favor: don’t buy one. Neither model can run Apple Music or the various iPhone apps. Once the classic was discontinued, many people wanted to jump to an iPod touchб but found that 64 GB wasn’t almost enough for all of their music.
The rumored released date was reported by the iGen, which cited “reliable” sources. iGen, a French website, also reported that the iPod Tough 6th Generation would be launched alongside new models of the iPod Nano and Shuffle. Since it’ll soon be available on your Android phone, there’s no need to buy a separate gadget for holding your music. After all, doesn’t everyone just have a smartphone nowadays? It will have 1 GB of RAM and will be powered by iOS 8.4 with Apple Music pre installed. So if there is no market, or rather a very small market, for iPods, has Apple really revamped the device? The iPhone Touch still won’t have cellular data connectivity. The company has realized that music listeners have shifted to streaming services like Spotify over purchasing songs on an individual basis through a program like Apple’s iTunes. The Cult Of Mac referred to the new iPod update as “extremely half-baked”.
This is the first significant update to the iPod Touch since 2012 and while some still fail to see the point of an iPhone without the phone part, the device has its fans, with many treating it as a portable multimedia system, like a modern Game Boy. Did you expect Apple to continue the iPod lineup? Remember the wide assortment of color options for the old iPod nanos? The shuffle and nano are now available in silver, gold, space gray, pink, blue red starting for $49 and $149, respectively. The Touch is all about getting the monthly subscription payments to get to the music. The smartphone adoption rate in the United States has been faster than any other new technological adoption in history. And it’s up to you to determine the best one. It’s the cheapest way to own Apple, and storage isn’t a big issue with streaming over WiFi (hello Apple Music).
