Apple unveils revamped Apple TV box
The new box lands with a brand new look and brings the best of iOS – including Siri and Apple Music – to the television.
The new remote control has been revamped with a far more modern design, and also does so much more than the older remote. The Siri Remote uses Bluetooth 4.0 and apparently will last for up to three months on a charge.
“Our vision for TV is simple and perhaps a little provocative”, said CEO Tim Cook on stage.
Apple is making a push to replace traditional television with its app-centric ecosphere. Developers can take advantage of the built-in accelerometer and gyroscope, and the touch surface on the Siri Remote to create games and other app experiences that have never been seen on TV before. Siri can be used for the same features. As predicted, Apple TV now also supports Siri voice control. the device will ship with universal search, which will allow users to search for content across apps like Netflix, Hulu, HBO Now, and Showtime.
One of the more anticipated announcements from Apple was regarding the new Apple TV.
Previous Apple TV wasn’t a groundbreaking success but Apple seems to have high hopes for its predecessor.
The new version of the Major League Baseball app features full HD video at 60 frames-a-second of a variety of games as well as a deep dive into stats and the ability to watch two games at a time.
Aside from applications, games were also touted as a selling point for the new device.
I think Apple has another hit coming with the new Apple TV. The new Apple Remote has its own touchpad which people can use to navigate through the user interface a lot faster and easier. It will cost $149 for a 32GB model and $199 for a 64GB model.
Launch titles include Guitar Hero Live, an exclusive multiplayer version of Crossy Road, the latest Disney Infinity, and Harmonix’s Wii Sports rival Beat Sports.
