At least three killed as 5.1-quake rocks Pakistan
At least three people, including two women, died when a 5.5-magnitude quake hit Pakistan’s capital Islamabad, as also parts of the country’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday morning, Met office said.
Although the quake had a moderate magnitude, its epicentre was only 10 miles (16 km) northeast of the populous city.
Residents of the Pakistani capital reported buildings and vehicles shaking after the quake hit at 1:59 am local time (2059 GMT).
The tremor was felt in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Murree, all six districts of Hazara division – Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Torghar and Kohistan – Mardan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Local meteorologists measured the quake at 4.6 magnitude with a depth of just 10km.
