Bobby Jindal Fires Back Against Hillary Clinton Email Attack
“The bottom line”, Clinton’s communications director Jennifer Palmieri wrote, “…this kind of nonsense comes with the territory of running for president”.
“There is absolutely no criminal inquiry into Hillary’s email or email server“, Palmieri wrote. While speaking at the Westside Conservative Club in Urbandale, Iowa, Jindal asked service members whether or not they would expect to be punished for using their personal emails to handle “top secret” information. And second, it was revealed from the Intelligence Community’s internal watchdog that among the emails that it has reviewed so far, at least two of the emails on that server contained information that has been deemed “TOP SECRET”.
Gowdy was backed up by House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, who said it’s long overdue for Clinton to hand over her server.
“I think it’s about time that she dealt with the consequences of this”, said GOP candidate and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. “This is something that has put national security at risk and highly questions her ability to be the commander in chief of the United States”. “Releasing the server sends a message that even if there’s something on there that shouldn’t have been there, she’s trying to send a message that she didn’t know about it at the time and she’s really isn’t hiding anything”. She has defended her use of the server, saying she used it as a matter of convenience to limit the number of electronic devices she had to carry.
Smith said that of the available choices, turning the server over to the Justice Department “is the best she’s got”. Other Republicans have pointed to multiple investigations and prosecutions into mishandling classified information. Her attorney said in March that no emails from the main personal address she used while secretary of state are on the server or backup systems associated with it.
Clinton said in March she had exchanged about 60,000 emails during her four years in the Obama administration, about half of which were personal and deleted. The State Department has quibbled with the ICIG’s determination that some emails on the hardware were “Top Secret” when they were sent.
To date, the two agencies most critical to securing this information (FBI and State Department) have failed to assure the American people that they are taking the necessary steps to protect America’s national security interests.
On Tuesday, Clinton attorney David Kendall gave to the Justice Department three thumb drives containing copies of work-related emails sent to and from her personal email addresses via her private server.
Also Tuesday, Republican Sen.
Republicans jumped on Tuesday’s decision to change course, as well as the additional disclosure that two emails that traversed Clinton’s personal system were subsequently given one of the government’s highest classification ratings.
The Intelligence Community’s inspector general said from the beginning that it made a “counterintelligence referral” – not a “criminal referral” – to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The State Department disputes that the emails were classified at that time. They would all get briefings on handling classified material.
“For months the Select Committee on Benghazi has called on Secretary Clinton to turn over her server to a neutral, detached third party for independent forensic examination”, he said. “Now she’s signed a sworn affidavit to a federal judge, under penalty of perjury, that she has handed over all of her government business emails”, Jindal said on his campaign trail in Iowa.
