Brett Kavanaugh: The nomination and the allegations in 300 words
“She would be willing to testify, but we can’t even talk with the Senate Judiciary Committee about what that would look like and they certainly haven’t invited her, so at this point, it’s a moot question”, attorney John Clune said during an interview on NBC’s “Today” show.
Kavanaugh categorically denied Swetnick’s claims.
Judge Kavauaugh replied: “This is ridiculous and from the Twilight Zone”.
“We work with companies who are proactively using the Me Too movement as a springboard to encourage ongoing dialogue between employees and their leaders”, she told HuffPost.
The new allegations, offered in an affidavit provided to the Senate by the accuser’s attorney on the eve of a hearing to examine other allegations of alleged sexual assault, say Kavanaugh took part in efforts during high school to intoxicate girls so that a group of boys could have sex with them.
She also accuses Kavanaugh of being a “mean drunk” who made jokes “designed to demean, humiliate and embarrass” girls.
She says after first meeting them, she attended over 10 house parties where they were present: “On numerous occasions at these parties, I witnessed Mark Judge and Brett Kavanaugh drink excessively and engage in highly inappropriate conduct, including being overly aggressive with girls and not taking “No” for an answer. And he’s been treated very unfairly by the Democrats”, Trump said Wednesday.
She alleges that in 1982, whilst they were both in high school Kavanaugh pushed her down, placed his hand over her mouth and attempted to remove her clothing.
She said at some parties boys lined up by a bedroom to assault incapacitated girls.
“It is not my responsibility to determine whether Mr. Kavanaugh deserves to sit on the Supreme Court”.
The Senate Judiciary Committee is reviewing allegations by a third woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct, a panel spokesman said Wednesday, in yet another potential blow to his prospects for Senate confirmation.
Avenatti declined to expand on the allegation in an interview Wednesday on ABC’s “The View”, saying he would not add detail beyond what was in the statement.
Human Rights Watch said it had previously expressed concern about “the lack of transparency in the nomination process, and about the human rights protections at stake given Kavanaugh’s record”.
He said an FBI investigation “is the only way to get the truth”.
Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) scheduled a committee meeting for Friday, the day after the hearing.
However he fervently denies allegations of abuse from several other woman.
“I have never had any sexual or physical activity with Dr. Ford”, Kavanaugh said. There has been a frenzy to come up with something – anything, no matter how far-fetched or odious – that will block a vote on my nomination.
But Republican Senator Lindsey Graham tweeted: “I have a hard time believing any person would continue to go to – according to the affidavit – ten parties over a two-year period where women were routinely gang raped and not report it”.
“I’m talking to him; we’ve had a good talk”.
