Caitlyn Jenner Talks Contemplating Suicide on ‘I Am Cait’
“I have been in my house with a gun and said, ‘Let’s just end it right here, ‘” Jenner says.
The 65-year-old former Olympian – who was previously known as Bruce – was concerned her children and stepchildren told her they were supportive of her decision to live as a woman, but she anxious they actually felt “something else”.
‘I mean, you can find blogs where people are like, ‘Laverne Cox is drop-dead gorgeous, ‘ and there are other blogs saying I have ‘linebacker proportions, ” she said. And while “I Am Cait” of course falls subject to the glitz and glamour of her “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” roots – the premiere episode features GIF-worthy cameos from Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian and Kayne West (who almost steals the show from Jenner herself) – at its heart, it’s moving, educational and most importantly, inspirational. From in that standpoint, I’m blessed ” I kind of narrowed it down to a few of them, Caitlyn being one of them, and I really was with Ronda, I was talking to her about this whole thing about two years of time ago, and she goes,”Well, I’ve always liked the name Caitlyn“. This 2015 image provided by courtesy of E! shows Caitlyn Jenner in the first official promotional trailer for the new documentary series, “I Am Cait“, in Southern California. She repeatedly refers to Caitlyn as “Bruce” and “he”, admitting it’s going to take her some time to adjust.
I Am Cait will be released in the United Kingdom on August 2. Esther notes that while she may not completely understand, she’s supportive, telling Caitlyn, “You have the same soul you were born with”.
88-year-old mother to Caitlyn, Esther broke down in an emotion scene where the pair have a heart-to-heart, as she reveals she found it hard to come to terms with her child’s transition. In the premiere, she visits the family of transgender teen Kyler Prescott, who killed himself earlier this year.
“I never had my first experience with somebody on FaceTime”.
Rather than simply focus on just Caitlyn’s journey, I Am Cait attempts to shed a light on the bigger issues facing the transgender community.
When stepdaughter Kim Kardashian West stops by and goes through her closet, she reveals that mum Kris has the same dress as Caitlyn. “Loves her family“, she said on The Late Late Show With James Corden. They need an activist, and the fact that Jenner is transitioning in a very public way makes her a great activist.
In another post, she shared a group shot with several other transgender women who were at the screening. “But I didn’t have the money to do it”, she explains.
“There’s no way she could have transitioned privately”, Cox continued.
Jenner says she relates: “I’ve had some very dark moments in my life”. In a promo clip setting up the rest of the season, Kim says to Caitlyn, “You look fantastic, it’s your time, but you don’t have to bash us on your way up”.
