California Actor Charged After Taking Girlfriend’s Keys, Choking Her

Brendon made his name starring as Xander in cult TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Police were called to a hotel downtown around 11 p.m. on Wednesday. Brandon, who was gone when police arrived, forcibly took her vehicle keys, smashed her cellphone and grabbed her throat, police said. “We got there (and) found a 33-year-old female in the room by herself”. Fox News has reported that Brendon was released from jail on Thursday after posting a $20,000 bond, but he hasn’t spoken out about the arrest.

It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.

He called himself an addict and said he had gotten drunk before a taping of “Dr. Phil” in a Facebook post on his official page in September.

The arrest is the latest in a string for the Los Angeles resident over the past year.

In August, the troubled star was set to sit down with Dr. Phil on his talk show, but walked out before he finished taping. He had reportedly gotten into an argument with a woman and subsequently put his bare hands through one of the windows in her apartment, reported TMZ.

Brendon has been charged with a number of crimes this past year, including property damage and public intoxication.

PEOPLE reports Brendon was staying at a hotel in Saratoga Springs, New York when his girlfriend, who is not named, dropped by to return his things. He was eventually found by the police, just a few blocks away from the hotel.

Even at that time, Brendon was facing serious charges resulting from his abuse of alcohol and drugs and from bouts of severe depression, which included failing to submit urine samples to authorities in Tallahassee, Florida.
