CBS’ SUPERGIRL In Talks With SMALLVILLE’s SUPERGIRL, LAURA
But thankfully, the show’s producers are busying themselves with trying to fit in DC Comics’ most iconic character just yet into the latest superhero show. The series was developed by Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler, and Andrew Kreisberg, and will star Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El / Kara Danvers / Supergirl, Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, and Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers. Born Kara Zor-El on the doomed planet Krypton, the preteen Kara escaped at the same time as the infant Kal-El, but didn’t arrive on Earth until many years later after being lost in the Phantom Zone. While living on Earth, Kara has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin.
Speaking per Entertainment Weekly, the actress (who is now a cast member on “Bitten“) made it clear that there have been some talks about having some sort of cameo on “Supergirl”, though it is unclear just who she would be playing.
Also being screened on preview night – a curtain raiser followed by four days of panels, previews and parties for 130,000 influential attendees – are three other TV series hoping to be embraced by the Comic-Con crowd: “Blindspot”, “Containment” and “Lucifer”.
