Chris Brown asked to secure clearance before leaving Manila
On his Instagram, Chris Brown uploaded a video and announced his arrival in the country.
Those promoters were granted an injunction by the Philippine Department of Justice to stop any attempts by the “Run It” singer to leave the country without paying them the amount he allegedly owes.
The MDC wanted Brown, who is Christopher Maurice Brown in real life, charged with estafa over his failure to appear in the INC’s New Year’s event concert on December 31 last year at the Philippine Arena.
U.S. hip-hop star Chris Brown has been barred from leaving the Philippines after allegations he reneged on an agreement to perform at a 2014 concert. “If the concerned agency raises no objection to the departure, then we will allow the subject to leave”, said Tan in a statement.
The LBO stemmed from a letter from Glicerio Santos IV, chief legal counsel of Iglesia Ni Cristo and chief operating officer of the Maligaya Development Corp.
Brown had a concert scheduled for Wednesday night in Hong Kong, but calls to the venue were not answered.
Bureau of Immigration spokesperson Elaine Tan said Brown and his promoter, John Michael Pio Roda, were placed under the Immigration Lookout Bulletin (ILB) following an order by the Department of Justice on Tuesday, the day Brown held a concert at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. A posting earlier Wednesday on the singer’s Twitter account said a concert later this week in Jakarta, Indonesia, was being canceled for unspecified safety concerns but would be rescheduled.
