Chris Brown ‘won’t be allowed to tour Australia’
The Minister for Immigration and Border Protection Peter Dutton said the Work and Holiday visa agreement with China is for young, educated, Chinese nationals aged between 18 and 30 years and confirmed that it will be capped at the 5,000 visa places each year.
Public pressure has been growing to block Brown, whose California probation stemming from a 2009 plea to assaulting singer Rihanna was revoked in February, from performing in four Australian cities in December.
As ABC note, the Melbourne initiative is not the first time Brown has been the target of a sticker campaign centring on his history of domestic violence.
Speaking to the Herald Sun, a spokeswoman for Westgate, the promoters behind Brown’s Australian tour, indicated there would not be any issues when it comes to the singer’s entry into Australia and that his 2011 arena tour and a 2012 festival appearance went off without a hitch. Brown postponed that tour. Brown’s manager has been contacted for comment.
The new petition urging Brown to be turned away from Australia surrounds his violent past, specifically the 2010 incident where the 26-year-old was charged for physically attacking his then-girlfriend Rihanna. That is, if his visa application is approved.

“We said, “No, we are not providing you with a visa, you are not the type of person we want in Australia”, Senator Cash said.
However, Brown is already banned from performing in New Zealand as the immigration minister has already declared they will not give the singer a visa since he has already been barred from entering the UK.
Chris Brown is an extremely influential figure, particularly among young people.
“I had previously not allowed a particular sportsperson to come into Australia because of his record in relation to domestic violence”, she said.
