Cilla Black died of stroke after hitting head in fall, sons say
Cilla Black’s cause of death has been confirmed as a stroke she suffered after falling and hitting her head.
The singer and TV presenter was sunbathing on the balcony at her villa in Estepona, Spain when she fell and hit her head.
“Her passing away is a particular shock because despite the aches and pains we all suffer, she was always so upbeat”, he wrote in The Sunday.
Details of Cilla’s funeral have yet to be confirmed, but will be announced in due course.
In a statement her children say they are “devastated by the sad loss” of their mother and are now making arrangements to return her body to the UK.
“We would like to thank everyone, especially the people of Liverpool”.
Since Black’s death, a book of condolence has been set up in her hometown of Liverpool and tributes have been laid outside the city’s famous Cavern Club, where she worked as a cloakroom attendant before her impromptu performances brought her to the attention of The Beatles, who helped to kickstart her singing career. We would like to thank all those involved for their assistance with this matter.
“It was on her show where joined us on stage doing our triplicate impressions which included a fight with an emu which was great fun”.
She had flown to Spain last week with the eldest of her three sons and was staying at her whitewashed stone villa in Estepona, near Marbella, on the Costa del Sol.
The delay in confirming the cause of death was because forensic experts had asked first responders for more information about the circumstances of how Black’s body was found and to carry out further tests, not because foul play was suspected, a spokeswoman from Andalucía’s high court told the Guardian. Paramedics arrived on the scene at 6pm local time (5pm BST) but were unable to resuscitate her. Epstein went on to sign her as his only female client.
Black was found by her son Bobby, 44.
Beatles drummer Ringo Starr said: “I just heard the news Cilla Black has left us”. There’s no conclusive autopsy results yet but the main theory right now is that she had a dizzy turn after going from an air-conditioned room into the midday heat and losing her balance.
Windsor added: “I liked her, we got on well”.
