Colbert To Trump: Was Obama Born In The United States?

Trump’s most recent late night appearance, on Stephen Colbert’s new “Late Show”, was an interesting glimpse into how Trump might be handling the national (and global) ridicule surrounding his surreal presidential run.

Trump also explained his plans for a “great and attractive wall” along the Mexican border.

Over two weeks into his new program, Stephen Colbert finally got to break his dry-Trumping spell and sit face-to-face with Republican presidential candidate and incoherence aficionado Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the Fox News Channel cancelled an appearance by Trump originally scheduled for Thursday night’s “The O’Reilly Factor”.

Tuesday was a gamble for Trump since Colbert isn’t known to pull punches with his guests, especially those in the political realm. “I hope you’ll accept my apology … is there anybody you would like to apologize to yourself?” Much of Colbert’s prodding was deflected by Trump who is a master at staying on script and didn’t take any of Colbert’s trademark bait.

Colbert joked earlier in the night that he could now tell his children someday that he interviewed “the last president of the United States“. Trump was able to guess correctly all but one time, perhaps showing that he’s really self-aware about how inflammatory his campaign can be. “I don’t talk about it anymore, I talk about jobs”. He’s like an internet troll, except there he is on the stage, running for president of the United States-and even apparently leading the pack, despite a post-debate dip.

“I don’t talk about it anymore”, Trump responded.

“Now we could say there are no problems with the Muslims”. Trump nailed almost every line, except for the last one, which wound up being attributable to infamous murderer Charles Manson.

Trump, who offered Obama millions in 2012 to produce his birth certificate, immediately tried to demur while Colbert exclaimed, “It’s a meatball! To the best of my knowledge the people that knocked down the world trade center- you know where they’re- they didn’t fly back to Sweden”, said Trump.
