Comedian Amy Schumer joins cousin, Sen. Charles Schumer, to call for gun
The pair announced a new public iniative to tackle gun violence.
The two Schumers held a news conference in New York Monday and unveiled a proposal drafted by the senator.
“One of the reasons we make these movies is because the world can be so horrifying and we all need to laugh just to deal with it”, said Trainwreck director Judd Apatow in a statement.
“It’s often something that shouldn’t have happened in the first place”, Amy Schumer said.

Schumer eulogized the victims, describing Magazine Street business owner Jillian Johnson as “an artistic force in the community”, adding, “I think we would have been friends”.
