Musicians Armin van Buuren, Luke Bryan most unsafe online
Intel Security announced yesterday that the musicians top its ninth annual list of the most unsafe celebrities online, the Associated Press reported yesterday.
Viruses and malware are always a concern when navigating the Internet, but the tech giant did a study on which celebrity searches are most likely to lead curious users to malicious sites.
Topping the list is Electronic Dance Music DJ Armin van Buuren, taking over the top slot from Jimmy Kimmel (2014), who dethroned Lily Collins (2013).
Also on the list ahead of Betty, were Katy Perry, Amy Schumer, Nina Dobrev and Lorde.
“They capitalize on this interest by enticing unsuspecting consumers to sites laden with malware, which enables them to steal passwords and personal information”. And our community is at an extremely high risk. The research showed that clicking on results generated by searching for “Armin van Buuren” combined with the terms “free MP4, ‘ “HD downloads” or ‘torrent” delivers an nearly one in five chance of landing on a website that has tested positive for online threats, such as spyware, adware, spam, phishing and viruses. You – and your computer – might end up getting a lot more than you bargained for.
