Curtain Collapses While Carly Fiorina Speaks on Stage in Texas
While no-class Planned Parenthood protesters did their best to disrupt an Iowa tailgate party for 2016 Republican presidential hopeful Carly Fiorina, she turned the tables and schooled one of the miscreants.
The backdrop portion of a stage Fiorina was standing on fell around her as she spoke to the National Association of Women Business Owners. “Carly wasn’t injured”, Fiorina spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores said in an email.
Nobody was hurt and Fiorina finished her speech.
A video posted on Twitter appears to show a group of women shielding the former Hewlett-Packard CEO as the backdrop to the stage collapses while she was taking questions during a conference of women entrepreneurs. Fiorina later made light of the situation, telling the crowd “ladies, I’m plenty tough enough to be Commander in Chief”. In accordance to CNN, Fiorina told an aide to “let them protest” & engaged one of many Planned Parenthood supporters. Still, the feisty candidate maintains her position.
“Trump, Hillary – it could’ve been lots of people“, Fiorina quipped in reply.
That moment, and Trump’s awkward response in calling her “beautiful”, became the most tweeted about event of the GOP debate, second only to Fiorina’s comments about the Planned Parenthood videos – despite these being factually inaccurate.
The curtains began to tremble, and with an audible rumble, started to come down.
