Dem senator withdraws vets fertility bill, cites GOP attacks
In the second video, featuring Mary Gatter, Medical Director for Planned Parenthood Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley, she gives estimates for the cost of body parts.
Meanwhile, the White House went further than it had since the uproar began last week over secretly recorded videos of Planned Parenthood officials discussing how they provide organs from aborted fetuses for research.
One video shows a national Planned Parenthood executive discussing the organization’s protocols for providing fetal tissue for research.
The Mississippi Senators are among 49 Senators who signed a letter to Health and Humans Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell seeking an internal review of Planned Parenthood’s compliance with laws and regulations relating with fetal tissue and partial-birth abortions.
Boehner commented: “When an organization monetizes an unborn child – and with the cavalier attitude portrayed in this horrific video – we must all act”.
“The allegation that Planned Parenthood profits in any way from tissue donation is not true.”
In addition, Texas Senator Ted Cruz has called for “an investigation of Planned Parenthood’s activities regarding the sale and transfer of aborted body parts”.
In a statement, a spokesman for Walsh said “the U.S. Attorney’s Office has received the letters and will review them”.
“Planned Parenthood is trying to use the power of their political cronies to shut down free speech, to silence the freedom of the press, to persecute David Daleiden, and to save their half-a-billion in taxpayer money and avoid accountability to the law and the American people“.
Funny, these Republicans won’t say a thing about guns – we had another shooting Thursday night; you may not have noticed because they all run together – but they love to yell about abortion. “Nobody should be “selling’ tissue”.
The feud over Planned Parenthood has also spilled over into legislative business, as it has already derailed a bill expanding government fertility services for wounded veterans and could hamper efforts to pass a multi-year highway funding bill.
In a taped response, President of Planned Parenthood, Cecile Richards says the videos were taken out of context.
In an emailed release, Faison said: “Regardless of where you stand on abortion, we can all agree what we have seen Planned Parenthood do is abhorrent!”
“There is an investigation underway, and I expect that there will be hearings”, he said. “We want to make sure this practice is not going on in Tennessee”.
“… I don’t want to overreact, but I just felt the need to do something“, Lohnes said.
