Digital India Brand Ambassador Rumors
Fadia had earlier shared a certificate on Facebook saying that he has been appointed a brand ambassador for Digital India programme.
While Prime Minister Modi’s Digital India activity has been gathering force, it is abnormal why Fadia made a decision to declare this now as the testament was issued over two months before and Prime Minister Modi is right now on a USA visit where he pitched Digital India to an entrã©e of Silicon Valley CEO’s including Google’s Sundar Pichai, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Apple’s Tim Cook. “When contacted, Fadia told ET that the brand ambassadors were supposed to promote Digital India on social media and to participate in Digital India’s nationwide events”.
“Yes! I posted the certificate on Facebook yesterday”. “Thereafter, no other person has been appointed brand ambassador for Digital India“, said the statement.
The statement further added that services of these brand ambassadors will be used, as and when required, to generate mass awareness for the programme.
Fadia shot to fame when at 15 with his book “Unofficial Guide to Ethical Hacking“. However, many have posted doubts about his credentials as a hacker. You can read the full article here.
In a curious flip-flop, the government today first denied news reports of a move to appoint a brand ambassador for its flagship “Digital India” programme only to confirm late evening that four brand ambassadors had indeed been nominated for a one year period.
A few hours after the clarification, the link to the PIB release was no longer working, implying that the govt had retracted its denial. “His work mostly involves OS based tips and tricks, Proxy websites and lifestyle”. Fadia rose to notoriety at an exceptionally youn age of 17, when he professedly hacked the site of tech magazine Chip. Charles Assisi, who wrote the Forbes article, was an editor of Chip at the time the alleged incident took place.
