Donald Trump: I would shut down government over Planned Parenthood
Conservatives were accusing Democrats of voting to protect taxpayer funds for an organization whose campaign contributions tilt lopsidedly to Democratic candidates.
That’s when lawmakers will consider legislation keeping government agencies open after their budgets expire October 1.

A fifth video from an anti-abortion group that has published recordings of Planned Parenthood officials discussing the transfer and price of fetal tissue is being released Tuesday, according to the group. As in previous videos, the official describes how her clinic retrieves tissue and technicians pick through fetal organs – including what looks like a small arm – in lab dishes.
The controversy surrounding Planned Parenthood has become a rallying call for Republican presidential contenders, and Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton has called the videos “disturbing.” He’d earlier sent questions to Planned Parenthood headquarters and asked the Justice Department about its enforcement of related laws.
South Carolina House Republicans are seeking an audit of Planned Parenthood clinics in the state as Congress considers cutting off federal funding to the abortion provider. That was seven short of the 60 votes needed to keep the measure moving toward passage.
Republicans expected to lose but envisioned political gain because the videos have fired up their core conservative, anti-abortion voters.
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, a Republican candidate for president, is ending the state’s Medicaid agreement with Planned Parenthood. A vote not to defund Planned Parenthood says more about the senators who voted against this bill than it says about Planned Parenthood itself.

Planned Parenthood says it gives fetal tissue to researchers only with a mother’s advance consent and in fewer than five states.
Republicans are likely to try again in September to stop Planned Parenthood from getting federal funds, which now amounts to more than $500 million a year.
