Donald Trump still won’t admit Obama was born in the US
As he’s done in other recent interviews, including with ABC’s This Week, Trump refused to say whether he believes President Obama was born in the USA “I don’t talk about it anymore”, he said.
“In that wall we’re going to have a lovely, big, fat door where people can come into the country… but they have to come in legally”.
Another highlight in the night was when Colbert filled his mouth with Oreos right after Trump swore against the product. “I hope you’ll accept my apology”.
On Tuesday night, the comedian welcomed Republican presidential race front-runner Donald Trump on “The Late Show” for what many expected would be a tough interview.
“I don’t talk about it any more“, Trump replied.
But he was gung-ho for a game that called for guessing who in the past had made certain outlandish remarks: Trump or the comically conservative blowhard Colbert played for a decade as host of “The Colbert Report”.
“You say the people who give money to politicians owned them”, Colbert said.
Then, he asked this: “Barack Obama, born in the United States?”
Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump speaks at the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition 15th Annual Family Banquet andPresidential Forum held at the Iowa State fairgrounds on September 19, 2015 in Des Moines, Iowa.
And although many expected the interview to be a political bloodbath, with Colbert going after every single one of Trump’s controversial views, it was actually pretty tamed. After all, since his debut two weeks ago, Colbert has devoted a considerable amount of airtime to mercilessly roasting the former reality-TV star turned populist crusader.
“I oppose it, I don’t think it’s in the best interest of what we need to do to combat climate change”, said Clinton. Trump’s appearance on September 11 helped Fallon beat Colbert bringing in an impressive 4.5 million viewers.
“I want to thank you for running for president“, Colbert told Trump as they settled into their seats. Once the crowd was settled, Cruz ended his time by invoking the Constitution: “If you want to win an issue, go to the ballot box and win at the ballot box”.
