Facebook has second outage in less than a week
Social networking giant Facebook appeared to go down for users Monday afternoon. “We apologize to those who have been inconvenienced”, the site told Venture beat.
The more I searched, the more I found out that a lot of users are now facing the same or similar problems with Facebook.
If in case you don’t know, Facebook went down on September 24th for a brief time, much to the frustration of their one billion active users.
However, Monday’s outage seems to be extremely peculiar, as the site has been down for more than 30 minutes at the time of this writing. An update by Facebook software engineer Benjamin Golub noted: “A Facebook-wide issue is causing the Facebook Graph API to be temporarily unavailable”.
During the hard few minutes, millions of people all over the world were unable to log on – and many took to Twitter to express their distress.
Facebook’s map on Downdetector.com, which monitors disruptions, showed major outages over parts of North America.
It is the second time in a week the site had an outage.
Facebook declined to elaborate on what kind of “configuration issue” caused the site to go down.
Patch reached out to Facebook after the outage to see what happened.
Twitter users were quick to jump on the news, with the hashtag #Facebookdown becoming the number one trend worldwide soon after the crash.
An estimate says that Facebook loses $ 1,700,000.00 dollars everyone hour if it’s down.
