Kim Yong Chol welcomed Pompeo to North Korea, noting that it was his third visit to the country.
South Korean newspaper Chosun Ilbo said that Trump had even raised the subject of the epithet in their meeting in Singapore.
The talks lasted almost three hours and it was uncertain whether Pompeo would meet Kim Jong Un.
The North Korean leader is believed to have spent more than ten years at schools in and around Bern, and requested his favourite fried rösti potatoes to be served at a recent summit with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.
One U.S. official said the regime has stopped nuclear and missile tests but “there’s no evidence they are decreasing stockpiles, or that they have stopped their production”.
He will be meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un among other officials at the government guest house, where he will stay overnight for the first time.

After initial troubles getting components in, the system is now complete with six launchers and a powerful X-band radar that constitute one THAAD battery.
