Fiancee of missing journalist Khashoggi begs prez and Melania for help
Saudi Arabia has denied the allegation.
Writer Jamal Khashoggi, who had written critically about Prince Mohammed and the kingdom, vanished October 2 while on a trip to the consulate to get paperwork so he could be married to Cengiz.
They have not made any of the information they are basing their claims on public, although pro-government Turkish press reported that audio of the killing was recorded on Mr Khashoggi’s Apple Watch.
Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy voiced doubt there would be support in Congress to approve another arms sale to Saudi Arabia – although lawmakers haven’t blocked sales before.
President Donald Trump has also weighed in, calling the incident “a very serious situation for us and this White House”.
Members of Congress have grown increasingly insistent in recent days that the administration get to the bottom of the disappearance of the writer for The Washington Post, Jamal Khashoggi.
Trump threatened Riyadh on Saturday with “severe punishment” if Khashoggi, a contributor for the Washington Post who has been critical of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, was killed inside its Istanbul consulate.
Both Turkey and Saudi Arabia are allies of the United States. The journalist had given his phones to his fiancée before entering the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul on October 2.

The footage all seemed to come from surveillance cameras, which would have been posted throughout the district housing the Saudi consulate and other diplomatic missions. The men checked into hotels and left Turkey later that night.

The footage from Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport purportedly shows Saudi intelligence officers entering and leaving on two private jets.
At 5:32 p.m., cameras show Khashoggi’s fiancée, Hatice Cengiz, outside the police barricades of the consulate, speaking into her cellphone.
“When we arrived at the consulate, he went right in”, she said.
Wednesday’s Turkish media reports were the most detailed accounts yet of what they say is the Turkish government’s investigation into Khashoggi’s disappearance.
Trump said he wanted to find out what happened to Khashoggi but appeared reluctant to consider blocking arms sales, citing economic reasons.
The team’s first finding was counting 26 cars in the Saudi consulate fleet, four of which are suspected of carrying out suspicious activities related to the disappearance of Khashoggi, 59.

Khashoggi distanced himself from the Saudi monarchy in 2017 and lived in self-imposed exile in the USA, where he began writing op-eds for the Washington Post criticizing his country’s royal institutions. He is the former general manager and editor-in-chief of Al Arab News Channel.
Social media sleuths identified another man from the squad as a senior crimes scene investigator in Saudi Arabia.
The Post, citing anonymous USA officials familiar with the intelligence, said Prince Mohammed ordered an operation to lure Khashoggi from his home in Virginia, where he lived most recently, to Saudi Arabia and then detain him.
