Fiorina PAC defends abortion comments in graphic ad
It’s been an interesting week for reproductive rights news on the 2016 campaign trail.
“As regards Planned Parenthood, anyone who has watched this videotape, I dare Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama to watch these tapes”.
Fiorina’s next assertion that “someone says we have to keep it alive to harvest its brain” is a bit harder to explain.
In her letter, Laguens also acknowledges Fiorina’s committed anti-abortion beliefs and invites her to meet with her and visit a Planned Parenthood health center, and allow for an “honest conversation about whether abortion should be safe and legal in this country“.
“I have asked them to both pass the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and de-fund Planned Parenthood“, Fiorina said.
“This pregnancy center is completely privately funded, and a Planned Parenthood is funded by taxpayers”, she said.
Fiorina has ignored criticism by Planned Parenthood supporters – as well as independent fact-checkers – since the debate, standing by her comments Earlier this week, she released her own counterattack video, that includes several graphic images of aborted fetuses. Fiorina’s critics want to claim that because she didn’t take into account these distinctions, she’s just making stuff up.
Rather a spokeswoman, Sarah Isgur Flores, passed on a blog post recounting her thoughts as Fiorina traveled through South Carolina.
Like most CPCs, the Carolina Pregnancy Center doesn’t offer comprehensive reproductive health services like contraception, Pap tests, or screening for sexually transmitted infections. Bible classes are offered to the small percentage who do choose to go elsewhere to receive an abortion, and women are urged to name the terminated pregnancy.
For instance, Hillary Clinton, who once described the videos as “disturbing” – before Planned Parenthood yanked her leash – recited the usual talking points Sunday on “Face the Nation” about how the videos were “misleadingly edited”.
A couple of caveats here: Biden hasn’t actually decided whether he’s running for president yet.
Others, like Pam Dean, are eager to see a woman front and center in the Republican Party.
A bodyguard stood nearby, a recent addition to Fiorina’s bare-bones traveling staff as her poll numbers have surged and her crowds have grown.
On Wednesday, Planned Parenthood sent a letter to the Fiorina campaign and the PAC responsible for the clip (the two are legally distinct), arguing that the “fraudulent video is beneath a serious candidate for the presidency, and you should take it down immediately”.
We may wish we lived in a world where a candidate could say, “Wow, hey, I misremembered”, and the polity would say, “Respect”.
She also criticized abortion proponents for their dedication to protecting animals but failing to care for the unborn.
Clinton attacked Republicans in that same Iowa interview for their opposition to contraception. And this is a direct assault on a woman’s right to choose health care.
The House voted 241-187 Friday to strip Planned Parenthood of hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding next year. That is why it’s important that we continue to try to educate the public and draw a very clear line in defense of Planned Parenthood.
‘Investigations are underway now, but there are more than enough lingering questions to stop the money flow to this abortion giant while Congress conducts a full review of its activities’. Do you support a federal limit on abortion at any stage of pregnancy?
“It’s good when people know what 17 weeks looks like”, Fiorina told the woman, 31-year-old Lacey Thomas, as they looked at the blurry black-and-white ultrasound. And, obviously, it’s really emotional.
“I do think a man should be a leader”, Earnhardt said.
Fiorina: No, I don’t accept that at all, I’ve seen the footage.
