Hillary Clinton: I’m not preparing for Joe Biden
Interpreting Biden’s speeches and interviews yields little clarity about his presidential ambitions. “Everyone seems to want him to run now”.
“I basically said, ‘Look, Joe, whatever you decide to do, we’re with you 100 percent“.
Amusing or not, the late-night appearance put Biden on the same stage to which 2016 presidential candidates have been flocking.
“I’m prepared to accept that at the moment of conception there’s human life and being, but I’m not prepared to say that to other God-fearing, non-God fearing people that have a different view”, Biden told Father Matt Malone, S.J., editor in chief of America magazine, in an interview published on Monday.
The letter – whose signatories include some top bundlers for President Obama’s campaigns – underscores a nervousness among some in the party about Clinton’s standing and a building hope that Biden will decide to run.
A decision within the next three weeks would also allow him to participate in the first Democratic primary debate on October 13 in Las Vegas.
But Hillary Clinton says her campaign isn’t preparing for the possibility. “But if that’s it, that’s it. But it’s not like I can rush it”.
It appears that Biden remains very interested in running for president, but possibly hesitant about running against Clinton should she resume a dominant role in the race. “You know he’s not even an American“, the man said to Trump. “I’m being completely honest”.
Interviews like this one suggest Biden may be far from making a decision, but there are also some clues that could indicate the opposite.
The subtler approach from Biden’s official staff and close advisers contrasts with that of Draft Biden, the super PAC urging him to run, which is seeking pledges from Democrats as a way to demonstrate to Biden and others that the needed ingredients for a successful campaign exist. His stops in states such as Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Florida have fuelled assumptions he’s closer to jumping into the race. Separately, these supporters have investigating deadlines for Biden to get on ballots.
The 74-year-old claimed to have spoken about the issue with Pope Benedict in an “enlivening” discussion just months before the pope stepped down in February 2013. “He’s not going to (pick his running mate) now”.
“You gotta talk to my wife about that”, he quipped. “Absolutely, positively. And that’s been my position as long as I’ve been engaged”.
“Of course Dr. Biden would be on board”, Gleeson said in a statement to CBS News, adding that they “haven’t made that decision yet”. Marco Rubio (30 percent said they could see him in the White House). You saw her dancing on “Ellen” we heard talking about her mother more. “As he works through his own process, with each passing day, there is more enthusiasm building for his possible bid”.
