Hillary Clinton Staffer Was Paid Separately to Set Up Email Server: Campaign
Hillary Rodham Clinton says her use of a private email system at the State Department wasn’t the “best choice” and acknowledged she didn’t “stop and think” about her email set-up when she became President Barack Obama’s secretary of state in 2009. Polls show an increasing number of voters view her as “untrustworthy” due in part to the questions surrounding her email use.
“Mr. Trump insults, he dismisses women… he has been throwing a lot of heat my way”, Clinton said at a campaign event in New Hampshire, one of the nominating states from where the primary process begins.
“There was so much work to be done”, Clinton continued.
Almost everything Clinton has said in her defense regarding her secret server has been a lie. “I think the incriminating ones, she’s deleted and that’s obstruction of justice and destruction of evidence and you have the know the Russians or the Chinese … of course they hacked the server“.
“I was asked ‘Do you need to keep your personal emails?’ and I said, ‘No, we don’t”. Huma Abedin, who worked as Clinton’s deputy chief of staff and is now an aide on her campaign, is represented by Karen Dunn, an attorney at Boies, Schiller, and Flexner. “I trust Hillary to fight for the middle class, because it’s what she’s always done”, she added.
“The most relevant factor in my decision is whether my family and I have the emotional energy to run“, Biden, who lost his son Beau to cancer in May, said on Thursday.
Doubts over Clinton’s trustworthiness have damaged her numbers in opinion polls, allowing liberal Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders to narrow the gap with her before the first contests early next year to pick the Democratic Party nominee for the election.
Clinton’s political rivals are using the issue to dig in.
Clinton did not apologize for her decision when asked directly, “Are you sorry?”
But the only reason Clinton said she was sorry was because it has been “confusing to people and has raised a lot of questions, but there are answers to all these questions”.
The money Pagliano made from Clinton’s work was not listed in the personal financial disclosures he filed each year and the agency also said that he left in February 2013 when Clinton’s term as the secretary of state concluded.
Current and former Clinton aides have been testifying before the House committee investigating the deadly 2012 Benghazi attacks that killed the US ambassador to Libya and three other Americans.
Despite congressional and FBI probes into her email server and the drumbeat of bad press it has generated, Clinton said that the controversy has not hurt her campaign or her mood, either.
Even homebrew servers typically require careful configuration, Internet registration, data backups, regular security audits and a secondary power supply in case of electrical problems. “I did not email any classified material to anyone on my email”.
When the inspectors general of the State Department and the Intelligence Community confirmed in July that she had sent classified material, Clinton “clarified” her carefully prepared lie by saying that what she meant was none of the emails she sent or received were marked classified at the time. “I dealt with it in person”.
