House of Representatives passes legislation to defund Planned Parenthood
The videos that purport to show Planned Parenthood officials breaking the law come from an anti-abortion group called the Center for Medical Progress. “When it comes to defunding Planned Parenthood, the issue should not be partisan”.
Representative Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina said conservatives aren’t trying to goad Boehner into making a deal with Democrats on a spending bill so they can build their case to remove him from the party’s top spot.
Only two Democrats voted to freeze funding on Planned Parenthood for a year, along with most of the House Republicans, The Hill reported.
The bill has not yet been introduced in the Senate, and its supporters have expressed frustration that Republican leaders seem unwilling to shut down the government over the roughly $500 million in funding. “I would encourage every American to watch these videos”, said Texas Sen. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-California, said on the House floor. Planned Parenthood denies such claims and says the videos were highly edited.

The hashtag #IstandwithPP began to trend while people fought against the House’s decision to defund Planned Parenthood.
She brings up a letter Cruz sent to other senators asking them to oppose any government funding bill that contains Planned Parenthood funding. Those facilities don’t perform abortions.

Many U.S. Representatives took to their Facebooks today to express why they voted in favor of the bill, and the internet blew up with the announcement that the bill had passed.
