‘I don’t recognize’ insults to women
The Washington Post noted that Trump harangued Megyn Kelly’s abilities as a journalist, calling her “a lightweight” and “highly overrated”.
Brian Snyder/Reuters Donald Trump made a decidedly graphic comment against debate moderator Megyn Kelly Friday night while on CNN.
Donald Trump’s latest controversial comment was so alarming that he’s been disinvited from a Republican gathering on Saturday in Atlanta. “It just was wrong”. To that point, Osbourne posed this question to Trump: If you kick every Latino out of this country, who is going to be cleaning your toilet? Cue the groans from Raven-Symone and Rosie Perez. “Not that I’m an angel, but I don’t recognize some of those words”.
“I’m very surprised at Fox News”, he said, accusing the moderators of being tough on him while going easy on others.
Trump has a long history of lobbing insults at those he feels have treated him unfairly, and advises those who buy his books to do the same. I’m guessing, though, that Trump supporters got exactly what they were hoping for – a Trump who made everyone else on the stage nervous. “When somebody hurts you, just go after them as viciously and as violently as you can”.
It’s not just voices on the right accepting or even cheering when a woman on the other side is the target.
“Only Rosie O’Donnell,” Trump said, cutting Kelly’s question off mid-sentence. “She talks like a truck driver”, he said in 2006 during an interview with “Entertainment Tonight“. “A real loser. I look forward to taking lots of money from my nice fat little Rosie”, he said.
During the debate, Trump acknowledged making such comments – but only about O’Donnell. “I’ve been challenged by so many people and I don’t, frankly, have time for total political correctness”. A recent CBS News poll of registered voters shows that 62% of women have an unfavorable view of Trump.
But speaking to INSIDE EDITION, Roderick, who is starring in upcoming series Four Kings, said she was not bothered by the comment.
“I had him take a polygraph, which he passed – which forever destroyed my faith in polygraphs”, she added with a laugh. Then New York magazine reported that Murdoch had asked Ailes to dial back the channel’s Trump coverage and Ailes had declined.
Juliana Bergeron, the Republican National Committee member from New Hampshire, said Trump’s remarks were “degrading and insulting” and would hurt his already poor standing with women. And then he should have went on to say, “But I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt that there is this alleged War on Women”. You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever. But as I say, you’re not alone in your reaction. Not quite sure what the evidence is there, except for Trump’s involvement with Miss Universe or his declaration in one of his books that “I love women”. “That’s to be expected“. Though Rubio occasionally sounded a bit too much the senator, his answers were smooth, smart and convincing, presenting conservative policies compellingly and his biography affectingly.
