The arrested students have been taken to the Deccan police station. Congress leader Manish Tewari said that the incident is a harbinger of days to come under Central government.
Awati further stated that senior faculty members were not consulted by Pathrabe before he called in the police to arrest the students. “Students are not Naxalites”. The five who were arrested were released on bail today.
Rahul said “Our students are not criminals Modi ji”. “This is the worst thing that could have happened…” The students say that he does not have the credibility or experience to head the institution. The atmosphere inside FTII has become vitiated.
“Am shocked to hear whats going on at FTII“. I was gheraoed for the entire night. “I was not well (during the day)”. It just meant that I lost my night’s sleep!
A striking student said, “We are very curious to see with what agenda they (the officials) are coming with. They are not enemies”. “They think they can suppress and crush our creativity”, he said, adding that the Congress party would take up the issue and support the FTII students. “FTII is a symbol of it”, Gandhi said. Later, they assembled inside the campus and raised slogans, “Stand with FTII”.
Mr Pathrabe filed a complaint against 17 students and also mentioned 30 unnamed students.
“They forcefully entered and vandalised my office”. It was exclusively once Pathrabe’s assurance regarding project assessment being placed on hold for daily that the scholars let him go.
