Independence Day celebrated with full enthusiasm, national spirit in AJK
On India’s Independence Day on Saturday, the Pakistan Army used mortars and automatic weapons on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
“It is our belief that cooperative relations between India and Pakistan will immensely benefit our two peoples”, the president said.
Kashmiris are observing India’s Independence Day, today (August 15), as black day to convey a message to the world that India has illegally occupied their homeland.
Earlier in this month, 3 people were killed and at least 22 injured as Indian and Pakistani security forces exchanged fire in across the Working Boundary in Sialkot.
Meanwhile, Independence Day celebrations were also held in Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.
Stating that Pakistan is in the midst of a war against terrorism, he said, “Terrorists and those working on the agenda of foreign enemies are trying to sabotage the peace in the country”.
He also added, “We in Pakistan sincerely hope to settle all bilateral issues through a sustained and comprehensive dialogue”. There has been escalation of tension between the two countries following terror attacks in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir and incidents of ceasefire violations ahead of talks between their National Security Advisers (NSAs).
On Friday, Indian police and paramilitary soldiers maintained the curfew in Srinagar, the region’s main city, and several other parts of Kashmir to prevent any activities by separatists to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day.
There was no immediate response from New Delhi on Hussain’s offer or the report of Pakistani casualties.
Sadia Gohar, Third Secretary, hoisted Pakistan’s national flag as verses from the Holy Quran were read out.
