Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has said that it hoped that India will allow Kashmiri leaders to meet with Aziz in New Delhi. But Pakistan is unwilling to relent.
Sartaj Aziz also rejected the Indian assertion that Pakistan has imposed new conditions for the talks.
The meeting between the two countries’ security advisers was supposed to signal the resumption of talks between India and Pakistan. Aziz, asserts Kashmir is very much part of agenda as agreed in Ufa.
Swarup also said India had sought a confirmation of the agenda for the talks from Pakistan. This was the only agenda set for them by the two Prime Ministers.
An online survey by Dawn.com suggested that a majority of people felt that the opportunity of a meeting between the NSAs of the two countries should be availed at all cost, and must not be held hostage to Pakistan’s rigidity.
We will not discuss Kashmir in the NSA talks, don’t try to expand agenda.

He also reiterated that peace and stability could only be achieved through resolution of Kashmir issue. “Since this coincides with the NSA-level talks, it was given a different spin by the media”, the PDP leader said. There has been a pattern to Pakistan’s actions after the Ufa Summit and today’s position is a culmination of that approach.
3 meetings were decided in Ufa, out of which one meeting was “NSA level talks” on terror.
“We never expected this meeting to lead to breakthrough. And to ensure that in future Pakistan does not step back from showing serious concern about Kashmir”.
