Initial Reports Say 10 Dead in UCC Shooting
According to reports, the gunman was armed with an assault rifle and three handguns and was wearing body armor.
“He appears to be an angry young man who was very filled with hate”, the law enforcement official told the New York Times. At his request, he’ll continue to receive updates throughout the day.

Another witness, Kendra Gordon, told Fox News she was in the room next door to where the shooting occurred.
Umpqua Community College is closed and classes are cancelled until Monday. According to The New York Times, the FBI is investigating if it was really Harper-Mercer who posted the warning, although an NBC reporter did write on Twitter that he’d communicated with the real poster and it wasn’t the UCC shooter.

The Portland Oregonian newspaper reported that officers responded at around 10:40am local time to reports of a shooting at the college.

Details of the shooting have been slow to emerge from the rural community about 180 miles south of Portland, with law enforcement confirming only the numbers of dead and injured.
