Iran discloses info about past nuclear activities to IAEA
The U.N.’s worldwide Atomic Energy Agency says Iran also provided an explanation of what the documents mean.
IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano told The Wall Street Journal that he had a “legal obligation to protect confidential agreements” between Iran and the IAEA, emphasizing the importance of the agency’s independence. The U.S. already pays $1.8 million into the inspection fund and the agency has had to go begging for more money before the Iran deal was cut.

The IAEA was asked to monitor and verify the nuclear-related measures set out in the landmark agreement reached in mid-July between global negotiators and the Government of Iran.
The investigation has been essentially deadlocked for years with Tehran asserting the allegations are based on false intelligence from the U.S., Israel and other adversaries.
Iran has already stated that no American inspector would be permitted into the country under the deal.
“We’re betting the farm that we can block and have knowledge of one critical path”, the fuel cycle, he said, noting that Iran is allowed to pursue ballistic missiles under the deal.
Iran has given the United Nations nuclear agency documents linked to the agency’s probe of allegations that Tehran tried to develop atomic arms.
Albright, the former weapons inspector, said it will be hard for Iran to cheat on nuclear fuel during the first 10 years of the agreement, but it will become easier as restrictions are lifted on the scope of its civilian nuclear program. The accord also grants Iran a 24-day notice period before inspectors enter any site suspected of being used for nuclear weapons work. “Now the Iranians claim that all IAEA inspectors have to be vetted by Iranian intelligence?” Its stockpiles and uranium enrichment grade will be lowered to the point that it would be impossible for the Iranians to create a nuclear weapon.
