Iran’s Rouhani Says Normal Ties With US Long Way Off
The letter, sent on the eve of the arrival of the Iranian regime’s President Hassan Rouhani in New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly, cites the “unprecedented spike” in hangings in Iran and the crackdown on dissidents, women and youths as well as religious and ethnic minorities as evidence of the true nature of Rouhani and his regime.
Underlining that Iran and Brazil must take advantage of the atmosphere created after the nuclear deal, Rouhani called for the Brazilian companies’ investment in various sectors and markets of Iran including industrial sector as well as metal and mineral industries.
“Tehran sees no restriction for the presence of the USA companies”, ISNA news agency quoted Rouhani as saying on Sept.26.
The Iranian president referred to the execution of the recent nuclear agreement between Tehran and the P5+1 group of countries, dubbed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), as a significant test for the United States.
Stressing Iran’s major role in stabilizing the region, the Brazilian President said that, “there is no doubt that Syria is in need of a political reform, but the main priority must be rescuing the people and stopping the flood of refugees”.
And Xi said China would write off intergovernmental interest-free loans owed to China by the least-developed, small island nations and most heavily debt-burdened countries due this year.
“Stability can be imagined with democracy, but democracy cannot be imagined without stability”, he said. Under the JCPOA, limits will be put on Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for, among other things, the removal of all economic and financial bans against the Islamic Republic.
In a letter to President Obama, 101 Iranian-American scholars outlined various abuses committed by Rouhani and his closest advisors in the government.
Noting the “situation has certainly changed”, Rouhani praised the nuclear deal reached with world powers earlier this year including the United States.
Rouhani said both countries should do what they could to move forward to freeing prisoners held by each other. “They did not seem to know where Iran was”.
