Judge Blocks More Planned Parenthood Video Releases by Anti-Abortion Group
Sounding a little surreal, White House press secretary Josh Earnest firmly stood up for Planned Parenthood on behalf of the Obama administration following the release of four undercover videos from the Center for Medical Progress showing the family-planning agency’s leaders’ callous disregard for human life and its grotesque efforts to reap commercial benefit for itself.
An anti-abortion group that released videos purporting to show Planned Parenthood staff discussing the illegal sale of aborted fetal tissue has been sued by a group of abortion providers seeking to block the release of recordings it claims violate its members’ privacy and threatens their safety.
The case is National Abortion Federation v Center for Medical Progress et al, U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, No. 15-03522.

“To investigate the Center for Medical Progress for possible wrong-doing, but ignore the possibility that Planned Parenthood is selling body parts, would be wickedly irresponsible and selective”.
“PPRM determined we would not enter into a contract proposed by BioMax because they did not meet our legal and ethical standards”, Vicki Cowart, CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, said in an statement emailed after the edited video’s release.
The videos, made by an anti-abortion group show several people associated with Planned Parenthood in conversations where there appear to be talking about about selling aborted fetal tissue which is against the law.
For the most part, Clinton and other Democrats have defended Planned Parenthood.

In Friday’s lawsuit, the National Abortion Federation alleges that the center created a fake company to get into the federation’s annual meetings in 2014 and 2015 and then recorded its members with the goal of smearing abortion-rights supporters. To record a confidential communication in California, all parties participating in it must agree to the recording. “I think it is regrettable that Republicans are once again trying to undermine even end those services that so many women have needed and taken advantage of”, Clinton said.
Judge William Orrick in San Fransisco granted a temporary restraining order after it was argued the footage was captured in an unethical and unlawful manner.
