Kanye West: I have chose to ‘run for president’
Viacom Inc-owned MTV’s annual VMA hands out Moonman statuettes to the year’s top achievements in music videos, but is better known for delivering irreverent and unexpected moments.
Kanye West says he’s planning to run for president in 2020. New ideas. People with ideas. “People with ideas. People who believe in truth”, he explained.
Following an eventual 12-minute speech that saw West declare his US Presidential bid for 2020, MTV executive Van Toffler has now revealed that Kanye was initially planning on perform a medley of his hits.
It will be interesting to see Kanye West as president, and this isn’t the first time West has dipped his toes into the political world. But, what can not be denied is if Kanye were to take office, he would make history in a way that that is rivaled by previous office holders. During his speech, West even dissed MTV and awards shows in general, but execs still think he’s entertaining enough to host the entire show next year. He appears to maintain an unapologetic façade in the public eye, and his choices about many things have been considered questionable, beginning with his stage antics with Taylor Swift. Swift presented the award show’s highest accolade to West. The duo Joked about well-known VMAs moment from 2009, when he interrupted her acceptance speech. He continued, “You know how many times they announced Taylor was going to give me the award?”
How could we be forced to form a rational train of thought at a time when the possibility of Kim Kardashian West becoming the first lady suddenly became a reality? Is Kanye serious or is this but a classic Kanye attention seeking stunt?
According to Toffler, they were prepared for whatever Kanye West was going to do.
