Led airdrops shower leaflets over ISIS territory, activists say
Anti-Islamic State activist in Raqqa, Abu Ibrahim Raqqawi, posted the leaflet on Twitter Saturday.
The propaganda leaflets were reported to have been dropped on the city on Sunday, a resistance group called “Raqqa is Being Silently Slaughtered” reported.
Raqa, in the Euphrates Valley northeast of Damascus, is the de facto Syrian capital of the Islamic State group, which controls large swathes of Syria and neighbouring Iraq, where it rules with an iron fist.
There was no immediate response from the United States government about the leafleting campaign, but the tactic is often used to try and claw a psychological advantage over an enemy or spread awareness to civilians in a warzone.

The US-led coalition fighting against IS already dropped propaganda leaflets to IS-held areas. A previous one had a cartoon showing masked Islamic State extremists at a “hiring office” feeding people into a meat grinder. Daesh is the Arabic-language acronym for Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
YPG fighters have been advancing toward Syria’s Raqqa and are as close as 50 kilometers north of the city.
BAGHDAD (AP) – Two police officials in Iraq’s eastern Diyala province say authorities are restructuring a town’s police department after an Islamic State-claimed truck bombing there killed 115 people. They said two other officers are being investigated.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorised to talk to journalists.
