Lib Dem’s Christian leader court’s centre-left voters as conference begins
While Labour have said they now want to strip Government support for businesses and the Tories focus on giving tax cuts to giant corporations, we want to focus on entrepreneurs and small business seeking to grow. Labour’s foreign affairs spokesman Hilary Benn said on Sunday the party would examine any proposals to try to bring an end to the fighting. Using simple labels, Corbyn is more “left wing” than Michael Foot, but that is why he has made a decision to postpone the fight in his party over Trident and Europe.
“During the leadership election I likened it to the big household names which disappeared from the high street overnight and there are these new insurgent start ups which catch fire”.
As a friend of mine said, as well as Labour members and registered supporters, there ought to be a new category for people who are party members but not supporters.
In a rally to the party on Saturday Mr Farron said the party was now the only credible opposition to the Conservatives after Labour’s lurch to the left under the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn.

“We’re also seeing a lot of Labour councils who think that a new shopping centre or a new shopping mall is the economic answer”.
Next Tuesday evening’s event will be preceded by a discussion, co-hosted with Bicom, on the possibility of a two-state solution to the conflict. Nobody clings to the bottom of a truck and risks their life without a jolly good reason.
Which of those are not Labour Party aims and values?
In an interview on BBC Radio 5 Live Pienaar’s Politics programme the Liberal Democrat leader refused to confirm whether he would be happy to work with Mr Corbyn’s Labour – insisting this was a matter of “arithmetic” following an election because preferences are “redundant”.
LFI chair Joan Ryan MP said: “I have written to Jeremy and invited him to our reception at conference”.
“That has been the dominant discourse that we have been fighting against for decades”.
“What I am trying to emphasise is we desperately need to fill this gap between a very right wing Conservative government and the Corbyns”.
