Lil Wayne Lil Weezyana Fest Features Hot Boys Reunion, Master P & Drake
Take a look at Tidal’s snarky update message during several minutes of down-time during the live stream of Lil Wayne’s Lil WeezyAna Fest below.
“Apple is interfering with artistry and will not allow this artist to stream”, Tidal tweeted. The New York Post’s Page Six even said that Apple had sent Tidal legal letters stating it could be sued for up to $20 million if Drake were to appear.
Apparently Apple doesn’t want the poster boy for their streaming service to help out the competition.
It’s no secret that Apple and Tidal are at each other’s throats over music exclusives, but that fight might have reached a new peak.
Tidal cut a 30-minute of segment of its live stream and replaced it with this black box that blamed Apple.
‘Sorry for Big Brother’s inconvenience’.
Speaking to BuzzFeed News, Future the Prince commented: “Point blank, 100%”.
Although there has been no official confirmation about the threatened lawsuit, these reports were seemingly confirmed when Tidal’s festival stream was interrupted by an apology message (above) during Drake’s performance.
‘I made a business decision.
While this explanation seems a bit fishy, Tidal shouldn’t have taken an otherwise charity-oriented event and turned it into an opportunity to throw a few digs at a competitor.
That statement runs contrary to what Tidal said about the situation during the show’s stream, and on Twitter. Madonna acknowledged the difficulty in an inteview with the Associated Press last month, saying “It’s just the beginning, so we’re working out a lot of kinks… we’re going to build something unique and awesome that’s going to attract a lot of people”.
