Majority of Muslims to celebrate Eid al-Fitr on Friday
Shawal moon sighted in various area of the country on Friday and nation is going to celebrate Eid-ul-Fiter Saturday.
The Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Dehli Friday declared that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday across India, as the moon was sighted in Hyderabad, Bihar, Manipur and Tamil Nadu, reported by Indian media.
Muslims across Jammu and Kashmir would be celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr on Tuesday, marking the culmination of the holy month of Ramadan.
Sunni Jamiat ul Mah Hilal Committee did not announce of sighting of the moon and in fact appealed to the people to report if anyone had spotted the moon, Raees Ahmed, Madan Pura Sunni Badi Masjid, said. Large number of the people of Bohra community attended the prayers. Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain in his Eid message said that with the effective role of country’s institutions, a true democratic society based on justice, equity and equality can be established in Pakistan.
On the other hand, Eidul Fitr was also celebrated in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, United Kingdom, Australia and many other countries.
Law enforcement agencies, including Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police have taken special security measures across the country for smooth celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.
President Pranab Mukherjee today greeted fellow citizens on the eve of Eid al-Fitr. “May Allah grants the Eid of freedom!”
The administration has made elaborate security arrangements all over the state on Eid.
